Lifting the Lid on Funky Disco Sessions

Mastermix Label Manager Richard Lee lifts the lid on the origins of the classic tracks featured in Funky Disco Sessions!

The latest Sessions mix from Mastermix combines Nu Disco with Funky House dance covers and the result is Funky Disco Sessions!

20 tracks in a non-stop 60 minute mix that you & your audiences are going to love. Each Funky Disco track is a classic hit that has been re-worked to create a pumped-up version with additional samples added to create a unique track. Let’s take a look at the tracklisting and delve into where each track originated from:

1/ Love Emergency (Original Mix) – Hiva & J.R. Mark: Reworking of Evelyn King’s 1982 disco hit – ‘Love Come Down’.

2/ Wish For Disco (Original Mix) – Stevie Wonder’s 1976 hit ‘I Wish’ receives a Nu Disco makeover.

3/ The Night (Extended Mix) – Ivan Pica: Subtle samples of ‘Give Me The Night’ by George Benson are used in this infectious track.

4/Don’t Go (Original Mix) – Block & Crown, Martina Budde: Nu Disco legends do it again with this stunning version of Yazoo’s 80s smash hit.

5/ Dancer Delight (Original Mix) – Paul Jockey & Lissat: Awesome dance track that uses samples of ‘Rapper’s Delight’ by Sugarhill Gang to create a pumping anthem that will light up any dancefloor.

6/ Easy Lover (Crazibiza Everybody Edit) – Stephen M + Laurent Simeca: This 1985 chart-topper from Phil Collins & Phillip Bailey never sounded so good.

7/ All Night Long (2K21 Mix) – Softmal, Nytron: So much energy…so creative…wonderful reimagined version of Lionel Richie’s 1983 classic.

8/ Let The Music (Set You Free) (Original Mix) – Block & Crown, Paul Parsons: Nu Disco producers have a habit of titling their remixes using a line from the song they’ve sampled. In the case of this track, it’s Madonna’s ‘Into The Groove’ and the result is off the scale.

9/ That’s The Way (Original Mix) – Nari: KC & the Sunshine band get their 70s disco classic reworked and it sounds awesome!

10/ Let’s Groove (Extended Mix) – Danny Darko: This disco anthem from Earth, Wind & Fire is a guaranteed floorfiller and this new remix takes the energy level even higher.

11/ Can’t Take My Eyes Off You (Original Mix) – Lissat & Jackers Revenge: Nu Disco version of a classic sing-a-long anthem…what’s not to like!

12/ Take Me To Funkytown (Original Mix) – Block & Crown, Lissat, Paul Parsons: Take an early 80s disco banger from Lipps Inc and give it a complete reworking…and this is the result…perfect!

13/ When I Hear The Beat (Original Mix) – Luca Debonaire: The track title may throw you slightly…until we tell you that this brilliant remix heavily samples Miami Sound Machine’s 1984 smash hit ‘Dr Beat’.

14/ Flawless 2K16 (Original Mix) – Paradize Groove, Crazibiza & Terry lex: This is pure funky disco. Originally a hit in 2001 by the group The Ones and later sampled by George Michael in 2004. Featuring samples of ‘Keep On Dancing’ & ‘Wordy Rapping Hood’…total indulgence.

15/ Boogie Wonderland (Extended Mix) – Mr Belt & Wezol: No holds barred remix of the 1979 classic from Earth, Wind & Fire. An instant party classic.

16/Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love) (Purple Disco Machine Extended Mix) – Spiller feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor: Wonderful new version of this dance anthem. Silky smooth productions, wonderful vocals and a mix of high’s & lows throughout…sublime!

17/ Don’t You Want Me (Purple Disco Machine Extended Mix) – Human League: The best selling single of 1981 is reimagined to deliver a new version that will engage audiences of all ages. Cleverly produced to maintain the structure of the original track whilst lifting the overall energy.

18/ Was Made For Love (Original Mix) – Nari, Stylus Robb: One of the surprise tracks in this mix. Is it possible to take a 70s rock classic and turn it into a funky disco anthem? Yes…and it is a triumph. Rock gods Kiss have their track ‘I Was Made For Loving You’ turned into a modern dance floorfiller.

19/ Can’t Get Enough (Original Mix) – Block & Crown, Lissat: One of the most prolific nu disco producers are at it again with a reworking of ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ by Depeche Mode. A great track…just got a little better!

20/ Everybody Shakin’ (Original Mix) – Blusa, BigNoise & Loja: You can’t have a disco mix without something from the Bee Gees. This track samples their 70s disco anthem ‘Stayin’ Alive’ with additional samples from ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’ by Indeep. Pure funky disco heaven!

I hope that insight helps you to get a vibe for this incredible album and how your audiences will react to it when they hear classic tracks that they know and love, re-worked with these on-trend funky disco sounds!
